Managed to get four ruffle scarves knitted today. I can
knock one out in under two hours, but I usually take the time to wind the skein
on my handy-dandy spindle before I begin knitting. I skipped the spindle step
on the latest scarf, though, to save some time. In addition to knitting, I took
inventory of the tagged scarves, tagged the ones waiting for tags, ruined a blank
sheet of tags, printed new sheet of tags, bagged everything neatly, and am now
officially sick of ruffle scarves. Oh, it won’t last, so don’t worry.
I wanted to go through the inventory to figure out what
colors I was missing for finished scarves. I managed to fill a few holes there,
and I can tell now which colors to continue to work on for Saturday’s event.
When I’m not updating checklists or doing typical Mom/Wife stuff, I’ll keep
knitting. After counting up the total finished scarves today, I know I don’t
really need to, but there are a few major color groups lacking. My OCD wants me
to take at least one finished scarf for each color skein I have on hand. Sometimes
my OCD drives me to do some pretty stupid stuff. In this case, however, I think
it’s a decent idea: some colors are missing because I’ve sold out of finished
scarves, so chances are good that they’ll sell more. If I manage to remember
that while I’m picking out the colors to knit, I’ll be okay. I wouldn’t hold my
breath, tho…
I also have to figure out where the event will be held. I
know the name of the location and know I’ve driven past it a dozen times, but I’ve
never had the need to consciously remember where exactly it is. In fact, I don’t
remember ever having seen it before. Google Maps to the rescue! Have to be
there by 7am at the latest Saturday morning – I need to figure out how long it
will take me to get there and leave 10 minutes sooner, so when I get lost on
the way, I’ll have time to make my requisite U-turn.
Since I’m sick of ruffle scarves for the moment, I’m working
on the mate for the Cameo Tree sock. I cast on last night with the remainders
of the first skein of yarn. Once it’s time to join the second skein, I’m going
to try to match up the color jogs. That is either a brilliant idea or an
absolutely awful idea. Guess I’ll find out after another inch or so of knitting
on the foot of the sock. In the end, I’ll have a portion of one skein left over
instead of portions of two skeins. See, that way I only have to figure out what
to do with one leftover ball of yarn. Maybe I’ll take all the leftovers and
knit up a horrendously ugly pair of socks as a gag gift… Hmmmmmm.
